Check your ego at the door…. Egos and drama are strictly prohibited inside the box

Always greet and introduce yourself to new athletes, we have all been the newbie before

Be receptive to coaching, we are all here to help you reach your full potential

Always be encouraging, helpful and supportive of fellow athletes

Always be punctual for scheduled classes

Scheduled classes have priority on equipment and space

If you are doing ‘your own thing’ it must not interfere with the class times, equipment or space

Always stow personal effects under the bench during training keeping the bench clear… some like to gather here for PREWOD motivation, prayers, POST WOD reflection or recovery… respect the space.

When you are finished with your equipment, return it to its original spot for the next athlete to play with

Wipe off your abmat, kettlebell, medicine ball & GHD with a sanitary wipe… we all share but not that stuff

Always clean your mini whiteboard and return it and marker to the appropriate bin

Be sure to collect all your personal effects after training, as we will remove any unclaimed items at the end of the week

Don’t be a Chalk Monkey.  Chalk can get messy.  Try to always chalk your hands inside the bucket.  If you use chalk outside the bucket, be sure to return it to the bucket and clean up behind yourself.

Effort earns respect. Please don’t drag people down with a bad attitude.  Be optimistic, have fun and push yourself and those around you to do better.  We are all here to be the best athletes we can be.

Practice is the only road to perfection…  Sorry, no magic pill for this stuff.  Without putting in the time and sweat on skill work and mobility, you will greatly limit your ability to achieve.  This is the solution for being the best athlete you can be… don’t short yourself.  Full range of motion is a requirement at CrossFit Tao, and everyone should strive to achieve this standard…  Full range of motion out performs score any day of the week.  Athletes not achieving full range of motion should make it a priority by focusing their pre-workout time on mobility and skill work. If someone happens to call you out for doing some movement wrong (e.g., squat lower, full extension, etc.), listen to them, let it be constructive.  The person standing around watching you work out has a much better perspective on what you’re doing than you do.

The only way to get stronger is to increase the load.  When you want something you’ve never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.  Push your limits.  Hello PR.

Your barbell requires 25# or higher bumpers to be dropped.  Never drop barbells without bumpers.  Never drop kettlebells on the floor…. we know if you are working hard!  We understand that this may occasionally happen, but it should be rare.

You must count your own reps and remember your times.  For a small fee, I am sure you can find a fellow athlete to count for you.

No one cares what your time, score, or round count was, but everyone cares if you cheated to get there.  Respect yourself and own your score.  The fact that you are here putting in the work is impressive enough.  The day you NO REP yourself is the day you have arrived… Welcome to CrossFit

If you happen to tear a body part or leak in any way, take care of yourself, and then clean the area and equipment with some sanitary wipes.  Again, we all share but not that stuff.

Bring things to our attention.  If you notice that equipment is broken, lights are out, there is no toilet paper, etc. bring it to our attention so we can fix it for you and others that come behind you.  So don’t leave your teammate in the dark with no toilet paper!

Our goal is an increase in work capacity, but most importantly, have fun with the process!!
