Just like our Principles of Tao program is designed to teach you the fundamental movements of CrossFit from the basic squat to the Olympic lifts, our nutrition program consists of small steps increasing in difficulty, as you make lasting changes in your health and move closer to your fitness goals. Our initial consult sets you up for a month of guided nutrition work customized for your nutrition goals and lifestyle.

The Paleo diet focuses on eating foods the way early man would have. As hunter/gatherers, the Paleolithic man ate a clean diet, free from processed foods. The research has shown that our modern day diseases (such as cancer, diabetes, and arthritis) that plague our technologically advanced society are virtually unknown in undeveloped societies that lack the ‘conveniences’ of processed food. The Paleo diet consists of lean meats, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Off limits are foods such as grains, legumes and dairy.

ZONE

Developed by Dr. Barry Sears, a former researcher from MIT, the zone is described as the state of feeling your best, full of energy, with your body working at optimal levels.  He found that diet is key to achieving this ‘zone.’  His research centered on how this diet not only helps the body become resistant to diseases such as high blood pressure, but it also gives athletes the ‘edge’ necessary for top level performance.  His most advantageous diet consists of 30% protein, 30% fat, and 40% carbohydrates.  Foods are sorted into two groups- favorable and unfavorable with portion amounts attached to each food group.  Foods are not forbidden on this diet and even unfavorable carbohydrates such as brown rice are allowed in much smaller proportions.
