“All human beings should be able to perform basic maintenance on themselves”
Kelly Starret, Founder Mobility WOD
If you could do one thing to reduce your stress levels, lower your blood pressure, and decrease anxiety, would you do it? A regular yoga practice has been shown to do all of this and more. Yoga is a perfect compliment to our high intensity training and fast paced professional lives. In our one hour practice, we focus on relaxing the mind and targeting mobility issues commonly faced by athletes.
Through the overstress of our muscles, whether through overuse or trauma, our layers of fascia can get tears in them. When the tears don’t heal properly, the various layers of fascia in your body can adhere together in spots, which will cause pain and discomfort. By blending yoga and self myofascial release techniques, we increase flexibility, blood flow, and efficiency of movement. This allows you to recover faster and perform better.
The Bottom Line
Performance can be brought to an abrupt halt by dysfunctional movement patterns and underlying restrictions in mobility. Oftentimes, the factors that impede performance are invisible. Regular mobility work illuminates and corrects common movement errors that can cause injury and reduce an athlete’s speed, power, endurance and strength.
